It looks very nice but do not be misled like I was by the measurements. It is 12" deep, but the drawers themselves are not. They are more like 9", so I was unable to use this as overflow kitchen storage. Drawers are teeny inside. Other than that, its quite nice.

does this chest come assembled?

yes. all one piece. Heavy too so you will need help getting it into/out of your vehicle.
